Can I use a Rumpl blanket around a campfire?

Only the Campfire Puffy, which has an ember-resistant EmBarrier™ shell. Other Puffy shells melt when a spark lands on them. Ember-resistant isn't fireproof, so keep any blanket out of direct flame.

What makes EmBarrier™ flame-resistant, and how does that technology work?

EmBarrier™ is made from a unique blend of 60% modacrylic (a naturally flame-resistant fiber) and 40% cotton. The flame resistance is built into the fibers themselves, with no chemical treatments or coatings required. That means the protection won’t wash out over time. Note: EmBarrier™ is ember-resistant, not fireproof. It’s designed to protect against stray sparks and embers, not direct flames.

Which side of the Campfire Puffy should face the fire?

The EmBarrier™ shell side. The liner is our standard VersaWeave™ ripstop, which isn't ember-resistant, so keep it facing you.

Is the Campfire Puffy water-resistant?

The liner side is: it has a PFAS-free DWR finish that sheds spills and light rain. The EmBarrier™ shell is built for embers, not water, so it isn't DWR-coated.

Are Rumpl blankets machine washable?

Almost all of them. Wash cold on gentle in a front-loading washer with a performance wash, then hang dry or tumble dry with no heat (low is OK). Skip machines with an agitator. The one exception is the Merino SoftWool Blanket, which is dry clean only.
